Every parent should read this book. We spend untold dollars buying a house in the *right* school district, we hope for the best scholarship and sing the praises of our chosen university to our kids.... But how much time do we spend teaching them how to choose a spouse? And how much will where they are educated impact their lives compared to their choice of a Godly spouse? A spouse of depth and character verses a spouse who is shallow and selfish? How much impact will a fantastic education have if they are in a miserable marriage? For parents of BOYS as well as girls. Make sure you have set their expectations long before your child starts dating. This is a very eye opening and encouraging book about the future generation and how we can help them build strong, Godly relationships that will impact our families FOR GENERATIONS TO COME.

I can't reiterate enough that hearing Pastor Baucham speak in chapel as an undergraduate has been one of the biggest blessings in my life. This book was no exception as he examined both the short- and long-term ramifications of choosing (or transforming into) a suitable husband. I encourage other girls and women to read this for themselves and consider not only finding a man who meets these standards but also how they themselves can become someone whom such a man will find desirous. With divorce rates amongst those claiming to be Christians identical to those of their secular counterparts, it is important that the seriousness of marriage is returned to the institution.The best feature of Baucham's books is found in his intense need to present the points as more than just "the gospel of Voddie." Nearly every point he makes is supported by either a past or present theologian or the Bible, and most times both. While some may find his interjection of stories annoying, I think they bring a realism to the theoretical discussion. One of the most poignant illustrations was questioning why someone would be willing to hand over his daughter to a young man he wouldn't trust driving his expensive sports car.My only complaint was that there were times I felt a little older than the "daughter" being discussed, but I don't think you could change this. For instance, it's not that I necessarily disagree with the point, but having my father doing initial screenings of men for me at 27 seems a little odd.Overall, if the title of this one stands out to you no matter your relationship to the potential marriage, I highly recommend giving it a spin.

I picked up this book as I have recently started considering a courtship. After a bit of soul searching and research, I found that in order to live my married life in a Godly way and to bring honor to God, I needed to prepare myself for being the best possible man of God I could become. Growing up in a fatherless home I felt that I might already be at a disadvantage. I am so very thankful for this book as though daily study, I now better know what I must be.

Thoughtful and interesting. Would recommend anyone that is single and/or in a relationship. This book outlines the importance of a biblical viewpoint on mariage that is so often lost in secular culture.

Every man who has a daughter needs to read this book. I wish I would have read this book when I was a teen and before courting came into the picture with my daughter. If you are a man, please do wimp out and stand your ground. Your daughter and your wife will respect you for it.

Clear, concise, biblical. I am using this as a tool as I journey toward my first marriage, I recommend this book to anyone who knows or is involved with any Christian person looking to be married. For young men it is a good test to see the areas you need to work on. For young women it is important to know what to look for and where to set your standard. For parents it is of the utmost importance to prepare yourself and those God has entrusted to you for this important ministry!

This is a really good book on what a young man needs to think about to prepare himself for marriage. If you are interested in a young lady, you need to be ready to meet her father; not the father with the "shotgun," but a father who has cared for his daughter and is not going to give her to just any old guy. He sets the bar where it needs to be, but does not add unnecessary hoops to jump through. I highly recommend this to young men, fathers, and daughter and mothers.

Caution, there are two books that are exactly the same except for the title. The other is by the same author called, Graffiti Fonts, Graffiti Fonts from around the World. Different names but the exact same book, page for page. I bought both books for my daughter for Christmas and we noticed that they were the same. Going to be sending one back. Be careful.

I ordered this book to get my creative side back when it comes to graffiti. Needless to say this book has everything I need and more. The pictures showing all the different styles of graff is ridiculous. If you are looking for a book to help you find your own style then this is it. This is a great reference to have and a perfect book to have in any artists collection!

Really nice! I bought this for my 13 year old nephew who is into tagged style lettering. I thought this would be a great reference book to learn different style alphabets. The book is beautiful and full of MANY alphabets and has so much color and inspiration. My nephew loved it and has been practicing some of the styles he had been wanting to learn.

This book is a great resource for anyone who has an interest in various graffiti styles/fonts. There are handwritten styles (tags), bubble letters (throw ups), simple letters, 3D letters, letters w/ characters, letters made with the human form, semi-wild style, and wild style pieces just to name a few.As mentioned in the product description, taking part in this project are some familiar faces to the graffiti scene: Askew, Persue, Wane, 123 Klan, Ces, and Rime. Regarding artists I was not familiar with, this book helped me realize what I've been missing, and with the help of web sites provided throughout the book, I was able to pull up more art from those artists that were new to me.Along with a web site listed for each artist, there is information about the crews they are a part of, mention of their favorite letter, and a paragraph of info. The paragraph might contain info about the artist, what graffiti means to them or what they love most about graffiti, and how they went about creating their alphabet. I loved how it mentioned that one writer woke up at 5 AM and went to painting his alphabet around the city before clocking in for work that day.My only dislikes were that a couple corners of my cover were a tad bent. Also, I felt that with what was shown in regards to some artists' work, a lot was left to be desired when it came to the execution of their alphabets (eg Akor, Beet, and Loomit to name a few). Then again, that could be a matter of taste. With 154 different executions, there is something for everybody!One reviewer mentioned their displeasure with the lack of colored executions. I went back and counted about 75 monotone letters. That didn't bother me so much, because it gave the letters a blackbook/sketch feel, and some letters are so nice that there's no need for the extra filler.This book is well worth the money. If you have been unsure or thinking about buying this book, my advice is to buy it before it goes off the shelves again.

nice big book came on time wrapped very good in packaged and plastic wrap took some time to come in the mail because of the size but that was still great this is a great book because of the letters and it good for anyone who whats to study graffiti letters to make there own (note) does not teach you how to draw just show's you there catalog.

This book was everything I was looking for. I'm not a graffiti writer, but I love to look at the really artistic graffiti and to include elements of it in my own artwork. This book details the alphabets used by many graffiti writers from all over the world, and it is absolutely OUTSTANDING in terms of beautifully photographed examples, brief bios of the writers, and their deconstructed lettering. While this book doesn't make copying or adapting the artwork foolproof, if you have some artistic ability you can learn to form your own style. I would recommend it to anyone who admires these urban geniuses.

I have a lifelong love of studying Type, Fonts, Lettering, Signs, Calligraphy. The shape of letters. The strokes. I've always admired the graffiti artists / street artists who focused on their letters. This book has mind boggling examples that leave you saying "wow" and "I wish I had done that". Imagine a simple assignment to write the 26 letters of the alphabet, and then see what true artists can do with that assignment.I love books, but this book would definitely make my short list for being among the best.

This is a great book if your looking for some light reading. I learned about it through the soundtracks of the play on YouTube and learned it was a book since I'm not in a place plays often happen I chose this option which I feel holds attention and detail better from what I've heard if the play. This story will have you both rooting for the character, hating him for his voices, and then loving him all over again. It explains how hard it is to be a teenager in a society so filled with judgement and anxiety and fears holding you back and what some will do to over come that.

If you're coming from the musical, this book is absolutely nothing like it. The musical took a premise that was good but executed poorly and made it great. Be More Chill by Ned Vizzini isn't worth your time. The characters are skeevy and one-note. Nothing about them stands out in the slightest. The book only gets mildly interesting in the 'post-squip' sections, which is roughly halfway through the book. I recommend starting there, as anything before it is inconsequential and worthless.

The late Ned Vizzini did an AMAZING job at this work of art. I can't even fathom the amount of love and appreciation I have for it. When I finished it, I was heartbroken that it was my last time ever getting to read one of Ned's books for the first time. He will forever be missed.

From the 11-year-old reader: What do you do when you have a machine inside you? Jeremy tries to fix his teen life, which works for awhile, then gets out of hand. This book is full of teen spirit. Most of the characters are likeable. I recommend this book if you're looking for a little craziness in your life.

As someone who has fallen in love with the musical... this book really showed more to the story. I can't say much since it has been a while since I end it but I did enjoy this book a lot and it is now one of my favorites.

Great novel for teens who are going through something or think they need to be popular or adored by everyone, it does have strong language and mature content so be prepared, but aside from that I think the book has a really good message and that really showcases in the end.

The late Ned Vizzlini is becoming my favorite author. I picked this book up after my ongoing obsession with the musical. This book is every bit as engaging as that show, although the plot can differ greatly at times. It isnt an exact match of the show and it does not have to be. Recommended.

Good book yhe only draw back is the print is very small but other than that has alot of information!

Didn't help me as I am not really a collector. I just have some very different 100+ year old cards, and was wondering if they might be something a card collector might like to have.

Allmen's book is a nice reference, but not an absolute essential. It has some valuable information in the beginning, such as how to determine the age of a card and so on, but her examples aren't as plentiful as one would wish. As well, her prices aren't current, and having been published in 1990, cannot possibly reflect the kind of resurgance in interest in postcards that places like Ebay and Amazon auctions are generating. But if you're a dealer or a serious collector it's a nice book to add to your shelf.

This book starts with short easy chapters on the topics of most interest to beginning collectors: history of postcards, how to gauge age, condition, buying and selling, terms and abbreviations. Contains a comprehensive list of postcard publishers, a good glossary, but less than adequate index. One particularly good chapter runs through 5 postcards from the same artist that range in value from $1 to $150 in order to give a sense of what is valuable. This type of comparison would be of great value in any collectables/antique book and I wish there were more examples in this book. The novice can quickly get up to speed on the basics, then browse the extensive price listings both to estimate the value of their own collections, or to see if the local antique store is overpriced (it is!).The price list contains several thousand categories. Contains many b&w photos. The color insert would've been better if it showed a greater variety of postcard types rather than emphasizing a specific topic: European Art Novaeu. I highly recommend this book to beginners. Advanced collectors will probably already know the basic information, including the monetary value of their own topical interests. However, the extensive price list makes a good shelf or shopping reference even for advanced collectors.

This book has a terrible layout, and it doesn’t cover any one area in full. I appreciate the history, but the technical aspects of letter formation are missing.With so many books available out there, it’s better to skip this one and move to the next.

This was the biggest rip off I've ever seen! This is of NO help whatsoever for a beginner. You can't learn calligraphy by simply reading about it. It needs to show some examples, explain procedures. Would you try to teach someone a musical instrument WITHOUT the instrument? Do not waste your money on this book. Charolette Pearse should be ashamed to have her name on this piece of useless information! I would return it but that would end up costing me more then the cost of the book. Quite a racket if you ask me. They got me, I hope they don't sucker anyone else.

I expected photos and actual calligraphy texts.

If you are looking for a book to learn how to do calligraphy, don’t buy this book. It doesn’t go over lettering, it only tells you what you need to do calligraphy (ex: you need paper, pen, etc). Everything in this book you can find free on the internet.

This book does not contain any practice samples or even pictures of the calligraphy you are trying to learn. Not worth it.
