I've use this book a lot and I have it up here with a bunch of other books that I use for him lettering and also creative lettering and lots of stuff so I definitely recommend it for sure. It's definitely more of a workbook look I didn't pay attention to it even says a creative workbook so if you're looking for more examples then this wouldn't be the book for you but if you're looking for a workbook then this would be a good book for you.

Hand lettering made a big comeback recently in the design world and is now so ubiquitous that I dare say that it's bordering on being overused. Still, I believe there is always room for good hand lettering and that every good designer/illustrator should also be able to draw letterforms. This book os for anyone who wants to learn how or for experienced letterers to find new ways to practice their skills.The first thing you should know is that nobody becomes good at lettering without hours and hours of practice and this book is designed to get you going on those hours of practice in fun ways. Take note of the subtitle, "A Creative Workbook" because it is very much that. The book contains four general sections, History and Fundamentals, Process, Creative Confidence and Exploration, but the main focus throughout is on getting out your pen and pencil and getting to it. There are tons of very creative prompts to get you exploring and trying out different things rather than just copying existing typefaces.There are also many examples of various lettering styles but do not expect to find complete alphabets here to copy from. Instead you will be challenged to learn the various basic elements and then play with those creatively to come up with your own letterforms. For me, this was just what I needed and I can see myself pulling this thing out and working through a few pages anytime I'm bored or have a few minutes to spare.

I wouldn't call this book instructive. It's mainly prompts to give you ideas. It just wasn't what I was expecting I guess.

I was looking for a lesson book or tutorial for beginners on how to hand letter, but was disappointed to find that it seems you already need to know how to hand letter to use this book. The "...For Everyone" part of the title is misleading because it makes the book sound like a guide. If you want to learn how to actually hand letter, do not buy this book. This is a book of questions/writing prompts for practicing the hand lettering skills (that you already have). If you already know how, you can use this book for samples, examples, and ideas.

I like this book, but I'm not a big fan of the guided pages that guide you on what to draw or write. I wish it had more blank pages without text, but it's still fun and creative to use.

Not actually very helpful for beginners. Does not have enough visual tracing/practice instruction space.

i like the idea of this book but as I'm working through the projects I'm finding it difficult to get started due to the first few activities having little to do with actually lettering. Lots of guidance though, not just blank pages. recommend.

Got this for my daughter for her birthday. When I got it, I had to see every page myself. She loved it and I have to say the handlettering she has done is pretty good.

Amazon Vine was low in historical fiction ARCs for me to choose from so I wandered over to the Christian book category. Here it was, a Sarah Ladd HR. I've read Ladd's books before. I felt neutral about them so I thought to give this one a try.What do we have here? Well, about a gazillion overused tropes and nothing unusual except for the hero's plan to make his estate solvent with the development of an apple orchard and purchase of an apple press. That was new to me. And that also made for a lovely book cover, with apple trees in bloom and a pretty woman in a flowing gauzy dress.As for the story: (1) This takes place in Cornwall. There are smugglers. What a surprise. (2) There is a lovely widow with a past who has fled Cornwall and that past to become governess to three motherless children, who also become fatherless at the beginning of the story. (3) Governess and children are transplanted to Cornwall to live at Penwythe Hall with the deceased father's younger brother, whom the late father named as guardian in spite of the fact that the two brothers had been estranged. (4) This brother must adjust to having nieces and nephews running around and the children must adjust to their new life and the loss of their father. (5) Governess heroine must confront her old life and what haunts her about it. (6) Governess and children's uncle must fall in love.There's some mystery, a few bad guys, some human interest and relationship issues, some romance. None of it is very interesting. The characters have very little personality, the mystery is not compelling, and the romance is flat and lacking chemistry. What is it with Christian-genre romances? The passionless relationships in them makes me wonder how they manage to produce any offspring. Now, I don't mean these books lack sex scenes. I can easily do without that. I just want a little bit of sexual chemistry between H and h, so that I know they will enjoy the closed-door bedroom activity that I will not be privy to.This was relatively well written (grammar, spelling, etc.) but underdeveloped, with an unimaginative plot and boring characters. All in all, I found the reading to be dull as ditchwater.

More than a romance, this tale is true to the times in which the story takes place. I love a good story, and especially the Regency Era. There is something so romantic and compelling about the times, the people and the grandeur of the lifestyle that draws one in. That said, I must say this story doesn't disappoint.The heroine is a young widow with a shadow hanging over her past, who has taken a position as governess and moved far from her home to avoid the rumors and cruelty of her neighbors. The hero, is a handsome Lord of the Manor who has inherited his nieces and nephews, along with their governess on the death of his estranged brother.The story entails not only the burgeoning attraction between the two adults, but the trials and tribulations of the children who are adjusting to the loss of their parent. That, coupled with the facts of the dislike between the brothers complicates the situation, making it difficult to manage a peaceful household.

The Governess of Penwythe Hall is an even-keeled, easy read with a little romance and some suspense and mystery to help the pacing along. Cordelia (Delia) is a governess that has a tragic past. She is recently widowed, having lost a child soon before her husband. She is a doting mother-figure to her charges who soon lose their father and are uprooted to live with their unknown uncle, Jac at Penwythe Hall. The mystery aspect focuses around Delia’s past and her sketchy relationship with her in-laws.The romance is pretty non-existent at times, it feels like more of an insta-love situation. The mystery was pretty obvious to figure out. So overall, while it was a quick read, it followed a familiar storyline and a predictable plot. I do enjoy Ms. Ladd’s sweet, clean, regency-esque tales and would not hesitate to recommend her. This one just wasn’t as good as some of her other books.

I have had a crazy busy couple of weeks and I appreciated this slow paced calm book. I read it slowly and liked it for the most part. It moved slow and the romance was even slower. The characters were good and had a good story to push them along. The governess story always tugs at my heart, I guess it's my love of Jane Eyer. The end was a bit rushed but I felt repetitive in there feelings. Authors really only need to tell us once and sometimes never, showing us how a character feels is always so much better.

For parents trying to raise children with more than one language, this book will give them a useful guide to overcoming some of the challenges and the maximizing the blessings of the bilingual path.I have given this book as a gift to bilingual friends, recommended it enthusiastically to participants in my family language learning workshops and even persuaded my local librarian to order a copy for our town library.

I purchased this book as a Spring Break read years ago. As a Spanish teacher, and mother hoping to raise a child bilingually, I return to this book over and over to refresh my spirit and remind myself how amazing our brains are, and how different a bilingual brain is from a monolingual brain!

This book was very informative. I disagree with some of the content and opinions given by the author, but overall a great understanding of the bilingual mind.

As a bilingual father of two small children, before reading this book I was wracked with fear that my children would hit a certain age and then reject their minority language. After reading this book, that fear is still there, as there are sobering accounts in the book of this very thing happening, and how the loss of a child's language has even damaged family relationships. However; even though the fear is still there, I am no longer "wracked" with it, as I am now armed with the proper attitude and techniques to to deal with my children's changing attitudes towards their languages, and how to provide the "necessities" of the minority language into their lives in such a way that they will want to keep it and even enjoy being multilingual.

The books was easy to follow and had good information.

The Adventurer's Vault 2 has the same set back as all the 2.0 materials. It is about 60 pages shorter in content than the first Adventurers Vault. This would be an okay things if WoTC didn't charge the same price for both editions.The content that it covers is the same of the other minus mundane weapons. We only have magic items, in this Edition. I would have liked to see some stats on some more exotic weaponry.The new magic items added to this edition are; tattoos, wondrous lair items, immurements, and item sets.Tattoos, these are actually covered fairly well. The made a whole lot of them and gave a lot of options.Wondrous Lair Items, this was also covered fairly well and gives options to all level ranges. Makes a slowly modified and grown guild hall with magical awesomeness in your reach.Immurements, due to the power of there items I feel that they were fairly well covered. I think it would have been nice if WoTC could have found a way to make at least a few paragon level ones.Item sets, this is by itself is not a disappointment. There are many different sets covering all levels, from heroic-epic. And each level has three or four different sets. Where my problem began is with the introduction of group sets. I was quite excited by the idea, but I was severely let down due to the fact that there was only 5 sets total introduced here. I would have been fine if WoTC had just left out the Group Sets and given us more regular item sets. But with the introduction of the group set and then not fully covering it I think they made a grave decision that left me wanting instead of being satisfied.All in all it is a nice addition, but it could use more in general. Add about 4-6 more pages and we'll be gold.

One thing I dislike about 4th edition is books like these where all they do is add a million new items, 99% of which you will never get to use. One problem is there is too much emphasis on the higher levels. While I am a limited player, not being able to play D&D as much as I would like, it's always been my experience that it's very difficult to get to level 10, let alone the higher levels. I know some who have gotten their D&D characters to godlike levels, but also many who never get to 10 or more. Why? Probably because it is much more of a challenge to DM the higher the players get. The players also get tired of perhaps having 2 to 4 sessions or more before they can level up. Mostly, it appears many people just get bored with "that adventure", and opt to either have somebody else DM a new one, or they stop playing and opt to do something else entirely.

great quality, no damage to book or insides. made a fine addition to my D&D collection! With Stranger Things coming out nows a better time than ever to pick up a copy of this book and get your next adventure going!With all the added weapons and treasures its defiantly a must have for your collection!

This book is quite thin in contrast to many other d&d books out there.It contains a decent amount of armor and weapons but everything else has a small selection.It retails for 29.95 in stores and I would not recomend that price at all, I infact would be upset if I paid that for something as thin as this. Decent content but very little of it.If you decide to buy it, buy it on amazon, no more for 10. Picked mine up for 6 + 3.99 s+h.The prices are constantly changing on d&d books, just be patient and there will be a week when this or another book goes down in price and get your hands on it then.Definately not essential for any campaign, but if your a collector of 4th edition like me, you gotta get your hands on them all.

One thing it took me a long time as a DM to realize is that while the story keeps the DM interested the players need loot to keep them interested. If you want some cool ideas for stuff to give the players this is a great resource, and I think that this is the book htat has some loot that is sentient, which while not suuuper original is a great campaign hook.

A DM must.

A treasure trove of loot that will turn any party into greedy murder hobos. Items easily convert to 5e.
