Just started using this and I am impressed the first groups really work on your breathing and lip control.

This book has many different and some challenging exercises, etudes, scales, etc. Some duets are also included. Well worth the money.

About the Author

Larry Newman is the Founder and Director of Children's Music Workshop. He holds a Bachelor of Music Education, cum laude degree from Temple University's College of Music, a California teaching credential and a Master of Arts in Music Performance from Eastern Illinois University. Formerly an instrumental music teacher in the Philadelphia School District, Los Angeles Unified School District, and Santa Monica-Malibu Public Schools, Mr. Newman has supervised music programs in more than eighty public and private institutions from the Kindergarten through college levels. His rich diversity of experience includes schools from East L.A. to Malibu and from South Central L.A. to the San Fernando Valley. Larry Newman was the recipient of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences' 62nd Annual Los Angeles area Emmy award for Children/Youth Programming. Mr Newman wrote, directed and produced the All Schools Elementary Honor Orchestra shows which have aired nationally and feature students from more than two dozen Children's Music Workshop school programs. This was Mr. Newman's third Emmy win. He also received Emmys in 2009 and 2008 for those honor orchestra broadcasts and was most recently nominated in 2011 for a fourth Emmy for Orchestra Kids 2010. In 2009, Mr. Newman was honored by the Los Angeles City Council at City Hall for his contributions to music education in Los Angeles. He was also featured on CityView's Channel 35 series, "Faces of LA". Mr. Newman received the 2006 Lori Petrick Excellence in Education Award from the Palisades Charter Schools Foundation. The award is underwritten by the Boone Foundation - a philanthropic group whose mission is to support "passionate people who provide excellent programs to youth". Larry Newman was also one of 40 teachers nominated for the 2007 25th Annual BRAVO Award, established in 1982 by the Music Center of Los Angeles County to recognize individuals for innovation and excellence in arts education. It's what the school required and Amazon was the only place where i live that I could get it.

This book is easy for the beggining student to follow and to learn to play the clarinet without having the opportunity to learn from either a real music teacher or from a school based music program.

My son is 9 and just beginning. These are simple enough for a kid who is learning to read music while also learning and instrument - it will help him with is confidence. The Real Book is great too.

My daughter was struggling to get down to nap each day. I found this book one night and immediately bought it. My daughter loves animals so I thought this would be the perfect book to add to the nap time "routine".We read it frequently and it has helped get her settled for her nap each day. We talk about what animal will she sleep like today!

This is a wonderful little book each child will love. My toddler loves to be read to and with this book she has her special stuffed giraffe to go along with the book. Very inexpensive and short enough to hold their attention. She is learning animals at her local zoo and this is a great addition to that learning experience. Good job!

That cover photo, duplicated on one of the pages in the book, is the ONLY one of a giraffe sleeping! The rest are of different animals. A more accurate title would have been How Do Animals Take Naps. Disappointing.

I bought the book thinking it was all about giraffes, but it's not. Each page has a sentence on a different animal. However it was delivered quickly and was able to get my money back when I was dissatisfied with the product, since the whole reason I got it was because I have a giraffe themed classroom.

My youngest is obsessed with giraffes. She saw this book and declared her need for it. It's a cute book! Easy for kids to read (ages 4-5) and a quick bedtime story for grown ups to read.

Nothing about napping giraffes in the book I received. Either it’s poorly written and edited or it’s missing pages. Very disappointed.

Cute story for young children.

Gave this book as a gift, so I haven't actually read it, but my daughter, who teaches preschool, loves it!

Not very in depth at all. Unfortunately I will need to do a lot more research and or buy another book to be able to get started. Do not recommend unless you are not interested in making syrup. Would recommend if you are only interested in learning how it is made.

Very informative book and I learned a great deal about making your own Maple syrup from reading it. The book is easy to read and understand. I look forward to this coming season.

This is my first year tapping trees and this book explained everything that I needed to know. Highly recommended for beginners. I even think long-time sugar makers would learn a few things, but the book was a how-to that was very well explained from start to finish.

"Maple on Tap" by Rich Finzer, is a great book and was pleased to learn that in the span of time since I'd read the book earlier this year, "Maple on Tap" had recently been awarded the IBPA Ben Franklin Gold award. Indeed, I found the book to be well written and spiced with lighthearted humorous anecdotes, it was a fun book to read as well as a great "go-back-to" reference source.... Two thumbs up on this one!

Very long introduction to Hermeneutics.

Although I am not a lover of methodology, I've found this to be a good read. Certainly helps to adjust my biases.

As a whole, this is an enlightening and well-written book. The author is a well-read scholar and appears respectful in his fields of knowledge. The fundamental flaw of the project is the assumption that the term "evangelical" means the same thing or all people at all times.As a scholar in the field of U.S. and Latin American "evangelicos" the fact remains that there is no homgeneity in the understanding or appplication of the term. Donald Dayton had made the case that there is a clear bias in the use of the term and clear imprecision, as well.The overall contribution of the text is therefore short-changed as it is assumed that 'evangelical" means one thing, when in fact it mean almost nothing. It the term applies to such a broad band of manifestation that range from UMC, ABC, CCDOC, RCA, PCUSA, and 100s of other independent manifestations of U.S. Protestantism, then we may wonder if this term means anything helpful at all?Don Dayton was absolutely correct when he traced the breach to the old Princeton School and the Holiness movements of the "Riff-Raff" that continue to be a scandal to the power elite among those that attempt to hold captive the liberating history of the gospel.

I found Lints' The Fabric of Theology (FOT) through Timothy Keller's references to it in his book Center Church. When Keller relies on and recommends a book, my attention is sparked. Lints was not disappointing.FOT is written from a conservative evangelical perspective. Lints finds much to affirm in conservative evangelicalism but also offers helpful critiques in at least two areas.First, while upholding the traditional conservative evangelical approach to the inspiration of the Scriptures (inerrancy, authority, etc.), Lints clearly marks out a more humble path advocating that evangelicals not apply their description of the Bible to their own theology. Simply put, the evangelical's Bible is inspired and inerrant, but her theology is not.Second, without trashing systematic theology or reducing its importance in any way, Lints offers extensive helpful comparison and differentiation between systematic theology (which looks at the whole Bible in terms of specific topics) and biblical theology (which looks at the whole Bible in terms of God's unfolding redeeming of creation and humanity).FOT is a weighty evangelical voice on the work of creating theology in our time and place. Lints is worth reading and processing for evangelicals who see theological work as important for every generation.

This book was used in a class by the author and really helped me understand the issues with Evangelical theology (or the lack thereof), the importance of forming theology personally and in community, and how to go about such formation. I feel far more assured of my ability to discern my beliefs and to recognize the barriers/influences to my understanding. I believe I am more equipped to explain my beliefs in a logical fashion to others who may hold a different opinion.

Nevertheless, this is an exemplary text on outlining several issues that go into a modern theological endeavor that is faithful to scripture, relevant to our culture, and historically sensitive. A worthy work, indeed.
