This family-friendly vacation idea book is a great way to learn about main family events in planning a vacation. With lots of photos and concise reviews, the book is organized by state with topical indexes at the back of the book for special interests. Hardin covers all of the 50 states, plus the District of Columbia, with a significant number of entries for even the smallest state.Each adventure is categorized by price category, the best time to visit, and the most appropriate age range. The appendixes at the back of the book even include a few suggestions on where to stay.

This book is titled as an adventure book, but it is not. It should be called 500+ All-American Historical Sites & Museums. Although educational my family and I do not consider these types of destinations as "Adventures".
I'm really enjoying this book. Every time I read about the activities in a state, I want to pack the kids in the car and head out on a trip right away. The book is a great launching off point for planning a fun and memorable family vacation, plus I like all the historical tidbits provided for many of the places.
I really miss the maps in this book!!! This is the first travel book I have seen WITHOUT MAPS!!! There is one at the beginning of every chapter showing where the state is in the USA, but you really cannot use this book if you are planning a road trip and want to find sights nearby. You have to google every sight first... So it really sucks, hard to use.
