My five year old loves to draw and color. This book proved perfect for her. The instructions are simple enough for her to follow without assistance. This allows her to draw every animal in the book on her first try, improving with each effort thereafter. Some drawing books seem to advanced for young children proving frustrating; this one, on the other hand, is easy enough to allow confidence and challenging enough for her to continue to grow her coloring and drawing skills.
A friend recommended I get this book for my 4-year-old. This is an outstanding book, and even I got to learn how to draw some animals! Ha, ha! Yes, and I'm... well over 35. Anyway, I can't recommend this book enough. It's a fun activity that you can do together with your kid or for your kid to do on his or her own. Or, if you're like me, spend a few minutes mastering some drawing skills yourself. Lovely depiction of different animals and easy to follow. You may need to provide some hand-over-hand assistance to your child if your child gets stuck. That's normal.
I've never taught my 5 year old to draw anything, she just looked at the step by step pictures and did it herself...this book is great, brought out her potential for art. She has fun making up her own stories now and drawing her own characters.
The quality is amazing of this book amd the drawings are easy to follow. But I wanted more ideas so I went and I bought the other Usborne book. Both are amazing books, now all depends on your preferences
Our little friend, Molly, is three years old and she just loves this wonderful little masterpiece of a book. When I first thumbed through it I thought to myself, I wish we all could have had a book just like this when we were three! If it catches your eye, and I know it already has, get one for yourself! i bought this for my daughter when she turned 5 and this has been our favorite drawing book purchased yet! We have used it dozens of times. We usually draw a couple pictures before reading books at bedtime every night
A total hit with my grandson. He sat on the floor all evening drawing animals. When his parents came to pick him up, he showed it to them and then asked to take it home with him. I'm impressed!If you have a child who demonstrates an interest in or a love for drawing, this book it totally fantastic!

This is our favorite Usborne book. My son is 4 and he loves these I Can Draw books. We have quite a collection of drawings now. They are great basic books that show step by step how to draw animals. Five steps and you have a great basic animal your kid can be proud of. Also has versions of the same thing or ways to elaborate once basics are learned. I LOVE this book!
